Minister of Energy and Mineral Purnomo Yusgiantoro on Wednesday formally awarded state oil and gas company Pertamina monopoly right to distribute ?subsidized? fuel throughout Indonesia for 2009.

Pertamina, who also won the right for 2008, was selected from six participants that had competed in a tender held by downstream regulatory body BPH MIGAS.

Under the so called Public Service Obligation (PSO) scheme, Pertamina will distribute 19.4 million kiloliters (kls) of premium gasoline, 11.61 million kls HSD and 5.8 million kls of kerosene in 2009, BPH MIGAS Chairman Tubagus Haryono said.

BPH MIGAS obliged Pertamina to source the fuel from domestic refineries including from Cepu Training Center refinery and from PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI), which are not owned by Pertamina.

Pertamina will get 8 percent margin for distribution fee. (godang/bernard)
