State oil and gas company Pertamina is studying the possibility to drill another well near Randu Batung-1 wildcat exploration well in Cepu, Central Java that the company was forced to abandon after gas blow out hit the well in February.
?A Pertamina team will be dispatched to Cepu to survey new drilling location,? said a company source.
The source however, did not say when the drilling would commence.
Earlier, a Pertamina senior official said that despite significant financial loss the blowout caused, it was also a strong evidence of the occurrence of significant gas in Randu Blatung area.
?Prior to the blowout, there were sign that we have hit at least 50 meter-thick gas column,? said Eteng Salam, Pertamina?s deputy upstream director. (godang)
