State oil and gas company Pertamina will soon conduct exploration activities in Cepu, Central Java, following a recent oil and gas find by ExxonMobil, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Thursday (May 10).
The daily quoted Central Java governor Mardiyanto as saying that he had got a letter from Pertamina asking the licensing from the Central Java administration to conduct follow-up exploration activities in Cepu, Blora regency.
"Pertamina has filed a proposal for a license from the Central Java administration to measure the level of crude oil reserves in Cepu. I have read the letter," Mardiyanto said.
He said the exploration activities were to test the existence of oil reserves of around 250 million barrels in that block, as reported by ExxonMobil.
"If there are oil reserves, I would say thanks God, as it means that it could become one of income sources for Blora regency administration," Mardiyanto said. (*)
