State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina is seeking to extend its permit of exporting aviation turbine fuel (avtur) as it is projecting to have a huge production surplus of the fuel this year, Kontan reported on Wednesday.
Pertamina?s Marketing and Commercial Director Achmad Faisal said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the company had estimated the surplus of avtur production to reach about 800,000 kiloliters this year. Avtur is also known as jet fuel.
The company?s avtur production is estimated to reach about 2.6 million kiloliters this year while the demand in the domestic market will reach only about 1.8 million kiloliters due to a lower demand, he said.
The Ministry of Trade has issued a permit to Pertamina to export its avtur for three months until August this year. The company sold about 200,000 kiloliters of avtur to Royal Dutch Shell in early June. (*)
