Pertamina to further raise fuel prices for industries

State owned oil and gas company Pertamina will further raise the prices of fuel sold to industries in accordance with the Presidential decree No: 55, 2005 which regulates the country?s fuel prices.

Ahmad Faisal, the head of Pertamina?s fuel division, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that according to the regulation, the fuel prices for industries should be adjusted every month to the development of international oil prices.

The government would set the new fuel prices at 15 percent above the price index under Mild Oil Plat Singapore (MOPS), he said, adding that the price adjustment for October would soon be announced.

He estimated that the price of Premium gasoline and kerosene would be increased to above Rp 6,000 per liter and Rp 6,200 per liter, respectively, while those for automotive diesel oil and industrial diesel oil would be increased to Rp 5,700 and Rp 5,500 per liter, respectively.

At present, the prices of Premium, kerosene, automotive diesel oil and industrial diesel oil are set at Rp 5,600, Rp 5,600, Rp 5,350 and Rp 5,130 per litter, respectively.

Faisal also said that the government had fixed the retail price of the highly subsidized kerosene for households at Rp 2,275 per liter, about Rp 10 lower than those proposed by Pertamina. (dino)
