State owned oil and gas firm PT Petamina has completed the Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) for the Floating Storage and Regassification Unit (FSRU) it plans to build offshore Cilacap, Central Java and will hold EPC tender for the project this year.

The state firm targets the FSRU Cilacap will come onstream in 2018. It will be the third FSRU operating in the country.

"The AMDAL for FSRU Cilacap has been completed. We are now waiting the EPC tender to be held this year,? Salis S. Aprilian, President Director of PT Badak NGL, told Petromindo.com.

He said the FSRU will have a capacity of 70 mmscfd and will among others supply gas to the Cilacap refinery. The refinery, which now use expensive oil fuels for operation, will then use gas as fuel.

He said cementer producer Holchim which operates in the area has voiced interest in the gas from the FSRU.

?Based on our evaluation, LNG infrastructure development is supply-driven. When supply is there, demand will grow. It is different from market-driven, in which producers come, because there is a market for their products,? Salis said, adding aside from Holchim, several factories in the area are also interested in the gas from FSRU Cilacap.

Meanwhile, Didik Sasongko Widi, Senior VP Gas Marketing at Pertamina, said Pertamina is preparing a pre-qualification tender for the project.

FSRU Cilacap is targeted to come onstream in 2018. Pertamina will allocate 10 cargoes for the FSRU from 2018 through 2020 and 20 cargoes in 2021, Didik said, withouth specifying the source of the LNG.
