Thursday, December 18 2003 - 05:04 AM WIB

State oil and gas company Pertamina said it had opened bidding for contract to carry out seismic survey on its Western Desert block in Iraq.

Company upstream director Bambang Nugroho said that in the beginning, there were 11 companies interested in the seismic survey contract, but only 9 finally came to get bidding paper.

The nine include an Iraqi company, which he did not identify, and Pertamina’s subsidiary PT Elnusa Geoscience.

He said Pertamina expected the survey could be carried in the first half of the year.

“Despite all problems in Iraq, we go ahead with our operation plans in Iraq,” Bambang said.
