Pertamina to hold tender for supply of 6.6 million kl of FAME

State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina plans to hold tender for the supply of 6.6 million kilo liters of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) in 2014 and 2015.
Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communications, Ali Mundakir said on Sunday that the tender would be announced this week, inviting qualified national companies.
He added that this is part of the company?s efforts to support the government?s campaign for the use of biofuel in a bid to reduce the import of more expensive diesel fuel. He said that the supply of 6.6 million kl of FAME, which will be mixed in diesel fuel, is estimated to be able to reduce the import value of diesel fuel by at least US$2.6 billion per year.
