Pertamina to import 2million barrels of fuel ahead of year-end festivities

The sate owned oil and gas firm Pertamina will import one million barrels of gasoline and one million barrels of diesel fuel from Singapore this month in anticipation of increasing fuel demand ahead of the year-end festivities, according to company president Baihaki Hakim.

"We will increase our stocks to cover demand for 24 days, from the usual 22 days," Baihaki said following a meeting with President Abdurrahman Wahid Tuesday.

The year-end festivities included the Idul Fitr celebration, Christmas and New year. Many people living in big cities would travel to their places of origin during this period of time to celebrate. (R. Amoros)
