State owned oil and gas company Pertamina will import light crude oil from India and China to meet the raw material needs of the country's refinery plants for August, Suara Karya reported on Tuesday.
Pertamina's deputy marketing director, Rachmat Dradjat said in Jakarta on Monday that Pertamina would import between 200,000 and 400,000 barrels of crude oil from Indian state owned oil and gas company. From China, Pertamina expected to import between 200,000 and 400,000 barrels of diesel oil, he said.
Rachmat hoped that the imports of crude oil and diesel oil from the two countries would enable Pertamina to increase the country's fuel stock level. According to him, limited funds and the high crude oil prices in the international market have hampered Pertamina's efforts to maintain its fuel stocks at an ideal level.
"We will do our best to find fuel supply through Pertmina's subdisiaries Petral, Pertamina Pacific Trading and KIPCO (Pertamina's subsidiary based in South Korea)," he said. (*)
