Pertamina to import shale gas from US

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina plans to import cheaper shale gas from the US in anticipation of rising domestic gas demand.
Pertamina Director of Gas Hari Karyuliarto told Petromindo.com Wednesday that domestic gas consumption is expected to significantly increase starting 2017 in line with the completion of several gas infrastructure facilities at home.
He said that an MoU to import shale gas from the US had been signed last week with one of producers. He did not name the company, and other details of the deal. ?It?s still at the preliminary stage, so we can?t reveal more details,? he said.
