Pertamina to invest in Kazakhstan

Indonesia?s state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina is seeking for opportunity to invest in oil and gas exploration in Kazakhstan as part of efforts to increase oil reserves and production in the future.

This was said by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa to reporters during a recent visit by President Susilo Bambang Youdhoyono to Kazakhstan. ?Pertamina will conduct oil exploration in Kazakhstan,? Hatta said.

Meanwhile, Kazakh Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbai Karabalin was quoted as saying that his country was interested to study the experience of Pertamina in drilling deep wells in offshore fields. He made the statement during a meeting with visiting Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan.

Furthermore, Karabalin went on to say that Kazakhstan is interested in Pertamina's technology on use of liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas. (*)
