State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina is scheduled to launch its ?LNG for Mining Transportation? on Friday (tomorrow).

Coal mining company PT Indo Tambang Megahraya Tbk (ITM) will be the first company to use LNG from Pertamina for its transportation fleet.

?The project is scheduled to be launched by Director General of Oil and Gas A. Edy Hermantoro and Pertamina?s General Affairs Director (L. Budi Jatmiko in Bontang (East Kalimantan) tomorrow,? Pertamina?s Senior VP of Gas and Power Salis Aprilian told Petromindo.com on Thursday.

Salis said ITM will save its fuel costs by using LNG rather than diesel since the former is far cheaper than the latter. ?We already have a benchmark for the price of the LNG, that is the price paid by FSRU Regas Satu,? he said.

The LNG for the mining transportation is sourced from the Badak LNG plant in Bontang, which also supplies LNG to FSRU Regas Satu offshore North Jakarta.
