State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina is scheduled to open the prequalification bid for the Main Transit Terminal Tuban and Tuban?Surabaya Oil Pipeline project of East Java province by the end of this month, a company official said Thursday.

?The winner of the project will be announced by the end of 2005 or early 2006,? Pertamina deputy director for Marketing and Trading Akhmad Faisal told Petromindo.Com.

Akhmad said the US$81 million-worth project would last for three years and consist of oil filling station (SPM) unloading capacity of 150.000 DWT with back loading capacity of 35.000 DWT, a storage tank with the capacity of 450.000 kiloliter and a 134 km pipeline connecting Tuban and Surabaya city.

According to Akhmad, the development of the Tuban terminal is seen as the appropriate answer to the leasing cost of floating storage and tanker transportation because the leasing cost of floating storage and tanker transportation to Surabaya is too expensive. (godang)
