Pertamina to operate mobile fuel stations

PT Pertamina (persero) will operate mobile fuel stations and point of sales (PoS) to cope with the shortage of fuel supply in Kalimantan , and monitor the distribution of subsidized fuels in the island, Investor Daily reported on Friday.

Hanung Budya Yuktyanta, the company?s director for marketing, said in Jakarta on Thursday that the mobile gasoline stations, which would be in the form of fuel tankers equipped with nozzles, would be operated beginning June this year.

?In the initial stage, we will operate 25 mobile gasoline stations in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan . They will be operated near coal mines to provide fuel supply to industries,? he said.

He said that Pertamina would also install PoS systems in 110 locations in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan in a bid to control the consumption of subsidized fuels.

The PoS systems will record and monitor all transactions of subsidized fuels.

The use subsidized fuels in Kalimantan has exceeded its quota as many industries in the island illegally bought subsidized fuels.

Pertamina said that the total use of subsidized fuel in Kalimantan has reached 3.5 million kiloliters which consist of 2 million KL of Premium, 1.2 million KL diesel of diesel, and 286,000 KL of kerosene.

Those figures exceed the actual quota of 3.03 million KL, comprising of 16 million KL of Premium, 1.03 KL of diesel fuel and 396,963 KL of kerosene. So, as of May 21 Kalimantan had exceeded its actually available quota by 12 percent, Hanung said. (*)
