Pertamina to operate two new oil tankers

State-owned oil and gas company will soon operate two new oil tankers in order to strengthen the distribution process of fuel across the country, the Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported in its Saturday edition.

This was disclosed by Pertamina's public relations officer Abadi Poernomo in a press staement issued on Friday.

Abadi said the two new tankers are 3,500 dead weight ton/DWT) MT Mundu and 6,500 DWT MT Balongan.

"Both of the tankers were already handed over to Pertamina by their builder PT Nanindah Mutiara Shipyard in Batam," Abadi said.

MT Mandu has a lengthe of 90 meters and width of 15.2 meters. It's speed is 11 knots and can carry 4,700 meter bulk.

On the other hand, MT Balongan, which is 108 meter-long and can sail 12 knots, has 8,300 meter bulk,

"Both the tankers were designed to suit the Indonesian waters," Abadi said.

Previously, Pertamina had also received MT Fastron, which has 30,000 DWT and 180 meter-long, from PT PAL Surabaya. (*)
