Pertamina to overhaul Balongan, Cilacap refineries in 2003

Thursday, November 7 2002 - 09:44 AM WIB

Balongan oil refinery in West Java and Cilacap I oil refinery in Central Java will undergo major turnaround in 2003, a senior official of state oil and gas firm Pertamina said on Thursday.

The Balongan refinery will be overhauled in October of 2003, Pertamina upstream deputy director Asyab said. But he did not say in which month the Cilacap I plant would undergo turnaround.

Asyhab said the oil refinery overhaul would not affect national fuel supply.

Earlier reports said another unit of the Cilacap refinery had undergone major turnaround in July 2002.

The Balongan and Cilacap are among the three oil refining plants in operation on Java Island. Indonesia currently has nine oil refineries, all operated by Pertamina. (godang)
