Sate oil and gas firm PT Pertamina plans to further raise the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for businesses and industry in order to cover the loss as the prevailing price has not reached the economic value, the company's senior executive says.
Pertamina's director for commerce and marketing division Achmad Faisal told Petromindo Friday, however, the company had yet to decide the percentage of the price increase and when the new price would be announced.
Meanwhile, Pertamina's deputy head for communication affairs division Wisnuntoro said that Pertamina was studying the possibility of adjusting the LPG price every two weeks like that applied on the fuels for industry.
Pertamina raised the selling price of LPG for the 50-kg container by 46 percent to Rp 6,200 per kg from Rp 4,250 per kg on September 1, 2007.
The LPG sold in a 50-kg container is widely used by businesses such as hotels, restaurants, hospitals, and luxury houses. (godang)
