State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has planned to raise its crude oil production to around 140,000 barrels per day (bpd) next year or 20 percent up from the current 118,000 bpd, company president director Ariffi Nawawi said Monday.

The 140,000 bpd of oil will come from several blocks including Sukowati (E. Java), Sangatta (E. Kalimantan), Coastal Plain Pekanbaru (Riau), one block in southern Sumatra and another block in West Java, Ariffi told reporters.

He said earlier that Pertamina?s crude oil output reached 117,120 bpd in the January-December period of this year, 102,000 bpd in 2002, and 92,900 bpd in 2001.

Indonesia?s total oil output in the past three years has seen ups downs. In 2000, oil production stood at 1.419 million bpd, but it fell to 1.341 million bpd in 2001 and further dropped to 1.252 million bpd in 2002. The estimated total output in the first nine months of 2003 is 1.282 million bpd. (godang)
