State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) said it will rename its lubricant unit in Thailand from AMACO Production Co Ltd to Pertamina Lubricants Thailand Co Ltd early next year.

Pertamina?s spokesperson Wianda Pusponegoro said in a statement on Friday that Pertamina acquired a 75 percent interest in Amaco, a lubricant producer based in Bangkok, back in December 2014. Pertamina has been using it as the basis for the expansion of its lubricant market in Thailand in Indochina?s countries such as Cambodia and Laos as well as Bangladesh.

Pertamina targets to increase its lubricant sales to Indochina from 4 million liters per year at present to 12 million liters per year within five years. At present, Pertamina brings its lubricant products to the region from Indonesia. Starting next year, the lubricants will be produced from the production facility in Thailand.

At present, PT Pertamina Lubricants has three productions units, located in Gresik, East Java; Cilacap, Central Java and Jakarta. Including the production unit in Thailand, the firm will have a total production capacity of 460 million liters per year.
