Pertamina to resume exploration in Lumut Balai

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energi (PGE), a geothermal development unit of state oil, gas company PT Pertamina (Persero), has resumed exploration activities at Lumut Balai, Muara Enim regency, South Sumatra on March 5.
Company president director Abadi Purnomo said the company had secured license from Ministry of Forestry to operate within the forest area.
The activities have been suspended since November last year.
PGE director for planning and development Zainal Ilmie Bachrun said the protected forest use license would cover an area of 29 hectares and the company was asking for extension to 83 hectares.
Exploration works are expected to finish in the 2nd semester of 2012 and exploration drilling works will be conducted in four wells this year. (giok)
