Pertamina to shut Balikpapan refinery unit next week

State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina will shut a crude distillation unit (CDU) at its Balikpapan refinery next week due to technical problem, the company official said.
Processing Director Suroso Atmomartoyo told reporters on Friday that the unscheduled shut down would be completed in 5 days.
The shutdown CDU has a capacity of 60,000 barrels per day (bpd). It produces oil-based fuel such as diesel oil, gasoline, he said.
The refinery has two CDUs with the oil-processing capacity of 200,000 bpd and 60,000 bpd respectively. The one with the capacity of 200,000 bpd was shut down for maintenance in middle of February.
The Balikpapan refinery is located in East Kalimantan and has the capacity to process 260,000 bpd. (godang/bernard)
