Pertamina to shut down Balikpapan refinery unit in October

State-owned oil, gas firm PT Pertamina said Tuesday that it would shut down part of its 260,000 bpd Balikpapan refinery in East Kalimantan for regular maintenance in October, a company official said.

A 60,000 barrel-a-day crude distillation unit (CDU) will be switched off for 25 days, Deputy Processing Director Masril Moeis told reporters in Jakarta.

The CDU produces various products, including Light Naptha, Heavy Naptha, Kerosene, LGO, HGO, and Long Residue.

Pertamina won't shut down the Cilacap refinery in Central Java for maintenance until 2010 to secure fuel supplies amid the general election, he said. Cilacap is the country?s biggest refinery with a capacity of 348,000 barrels a day. (bernard)
