State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina hopes to be able to finally realize its planned acquisition of an operating interest in Mansouri oil field in Iran next year, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Pertamina Upstream Director Syamsu Alam as saying that the Iranian government has informed the company to sign the Mansouri contract in April 2018.

He said that Pertamina will have 30 percent interest in the field, another 20 percent to be held by an Iranian partner, and the remainders will be allocated for other would-be partners.

He said that the Mansouri field is expected to have oil production rate of 250,000-300,000 bpd. Syamsu said that the company?s output portion will be shipped for processing at home to help meet domestic fuel demand.

Pertamina was offered by Iran last year to acquire operating interest in two oil fields, namely Mansouri and Ab-Teymour, of which each is estimated to have reserves of 1.5 billion barrels. But the paper said that only the Mansouri field will be acquired by Pertamina. (*)
