Pertamina to sign six new oil, gas contracts next month

The state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina will sign six new oil and gas production sharing contracts in December, and two contract extension, company president Baihaki Hakim said on Tuesday.

Baihaki was quoted as saying by the Tempo daily that the six new contracts belonged to Zudavi NV and Zosand NV of the Netherlands which would explore the Makassar Straits block in South Sulawesi; Amerada Hess from England which would explore the Tanjung Aru block in East Kalimantan; TotalFinaElf from France will explore the Donggala Block in South Sulawesi; Conoco in Natuna Block; BP Indonesia in Bawean Block in East Java, and Gulf Indonesia for the Saka Kerang Block in South Sumatra.

Earlier, director general of oil and gas Rahmat Sudibyo said that the government offer 20 other oil and gas contracts following the signing of the above six contracts.

Rachmat said that the 20 new contracts would mostly cover offshore activity in the eastern part of Indonesia. He added that the contract would be based on the oil and gas law.(*)
