Pertamina to spend $120m to build LPG storages

State oil and gas company PT.Pertamina plans to invest US$120 million to build four more LPG storage facilities to anticipate growing demand.

Marketing Director Ahmad Faisal told reporters on Friday that each of the storages will be built with capacity of 10,000 tonnes in Merak, Lampung Medan and Makassar.

Currently Pertamina is in the process of partner selection with target to start construction in 2009 and completion in 2011.

Government is currently trying to cut the use of heavily subsidized kerosene with LPG.

According to Faisal, Pertamina is currently operating one LPG storage with capacity of 10,000 tonnes in Eretan, West Java and is currently in the process of constructing 3 storages in Tanjung Emas port in Central Java and in Manyar and Gresik, both are located in East Java with completion seen in 2010.
