Pertamina to start production at Bekasi oil field

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina will start production at its Pondok Tengah field in Bekasi, West Java, next week, according to the firm?s vice president Iin Arifin Takhyan.

He said Pertamina targeted a peak production of 16,000 barrels of oil per day for the field, where the firm had discovered 250 million barrels of oil reserves.

A report recently presented by oil and gas upstream regulator BP Migas during a hearing with the House of Representatives stated the field will initially produce 1,500 bpd.

The agency also said Pertamina?s oil output now stood at 89,895 bpd, which is only 81.72 percent of the target. (Godang)
