State oil and gas company PT Pertamina will start selling liquefied gas for vehicles (LGV) instead of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the company’s gas stations next year.
Pertamina’s vice president Iin Arifin Takhyan said in Jakarta last week that based on an evaluation on LPG, using LPG for motorized vehicles needs high pressure and is more complicated.
“Our most possible policy is utilizing LGV and under our master plan, LGV will be available at gas stations next year,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pertamina’s head for fuel oil division Djaelani Sutomo said that at the trial phase, the company would establish LGV facilities in five more gas stations in Jakarta until the end of next year.
Several gas stations designed to be equipped with LGV facility include the one in Semanggi area, Tanah Abang and Blok M. “Now, we have one in a gas station in Semanggi which is under renovation. Hopefully, the facility will start operation, which will be voluntary in nature, in August,” he said.
The product would be sold under vehicle gas (V-Gas) brand at a price of Rp 3,800 per liter.(*)
