Pertamina to submit proposal on Mahakam this month

State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina will submit to the government its proposal on the development of Mahakam block in East Kalimantan this month.
President Director Dwi Sucipto said the proposal will be submitted either in the middle or at the end of February at the latest.
He said currently Pertamina is preparing 12 technical assessments as part of Pertamina?s Plan of Mahakam Block Development.
?The assessments include preliminary surveys, technical assessment and future plan,? he told Petromindo.com on the sidelines of the hearing with the House of Representatives? Commission VII in charge of energy affairs.
Contract on Mahakam is due on December 31, 2017 and the government has indicated that it prefers to hand over the block to Pertamina rather than extend the existing contract held by Total EP Indonesie and Inpex. The government however demands Pertamina submit its plan for the block if it finally takes it over.
