The Ministry of Environment has asked state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina to complete its environmental impact assessment (Amdal) report for the Babelan oil and gas exploration project in Bekasi, West Java, according to a senior official of the ministry as reported by Koran Tempo daily on Wednesday.
The ministry official, Dana A. Kartakusuma, said that Pertamina has yet to provide crucial information on the Amdal report particularly on detail measures to handle emergency situation like a pipeline leakage.
Dana said that such detail measures must be part of the Amdal report.
The request to complete the Amdal report was made following pipeline leakage in the oil and gas field project recently.
Dana said that the ministry was also seeking information on the progress of the construction work at Babelan field.(*)
