Pertamina turns down Kogas? emergency LNG demand due to lack of capacity

State oil and gas company Pertamina said on Friday that it had been approached by South Korean gas firm Kogas to ask for spot LNG cargoes for September delivery after Kogas? supplier Malaysia TIGA LNG declared force majeur when its 7th LNG train caught fire.

?Bontang LNG plant currently does not have spare capacity to meet Kogas? emergency request,? said Muchsin Bahar, Pertamina?s downstream director. Sources said that Kogas was asking for up to three emergency cargoes of LNG in September.

Indonesia itself is in trouble to meet delivery schedule after ExxonMobil-operated Arun gas field in Aceh after fire incident in the field?s gas processing facilities on Wednesday.

Another source said that technically Bontang has 20 percent spare capacity, but could not be utilized due to lack of natural gas source.

Indonesia is the largest LNG supplier to South Korea. (godang)
