Pertamina units plans another Java LNG terminal

PT Pertagas dan PT Pertamina Tongkang, both wholly-owned subsidiary of state oil, gas company PT Pertamina (Persero), are teaming up to develop an LNG floating storage and re-gasification terminal (FSRT) in Central Java or East Java.

Pertagas President Gunung Sardjono told Petromindo.Com on Friday that both companies had signed Joint Operating Agreement for the project last month.

Gunung said studies are underway to determine location and the terminal?s capacity.

?We are confident that the study will justify us to build terminal with the same capacity that is currently being built by PT Nusantara Regas in Jakarta?a port of Tanjung Priok,? he said, adding that the project was planned to be completed end of 2012.

Gunung said that state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) has expressed readiness to offtake 200 MMCFD of gas from the terminal for 10-11 years.

LNG supply might be sourced from BP-operated Tangguh LNG project in West Papua or import, he said. (Bernard)
