Pertamina uses Romanian rig at Karaha Bodas

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), the geothermal subsidiary of state owned PT Pertamina, is using a Romanian-made rig to explore for geothermal energy at its Karaha Bodas field.
PGE Operation Director Sigit Suhardjo the performance of the Karaha Bodas RIG F-200 DEC was ?good enough?.
?The rig has the target of drilling up to 2,800 meters,? he told Pertamina?s Upstream Director Muhamad Husein during a visit to the geothermal field, located in Garut and Tasikmalaya regencies, West Java. The visit took place on July 7-8, 2013, but the information was only released by Pertamina on its website on Monday.
Pertamina did not provide details about the rig which with 1600 HP capacity. It only says the rig has potential to produce up to 1400 MW of power.
Pertamina has planned to bring the Karaha Bodas field into production next year.
