State oil and gas company PT Pertamina is waiting for a proposal on the application of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology from Chinese firm Petrochina.

Pertamina said that it had signed a head of agreement with Petrochina to apply the EOR technology in the oil fields owned by Pertamina EP and Pertamina Hulu Energi.

"Yes, it?s correct. We?ll engage in a cooperation with a number of companies to speed up EOR program,? Pertamina Business Development Director Andriyansah told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Wednesday, but he did not give any further details.

Separately, PT Pertamina EP President Director Syamsu Alam confirmed that his company had been engaged in a cooperation with Petrochina to implement the EOR technology in oil fields belonging to PT Pertamina EP and Pertamina Hulu Energi.

"We?re waiting for a proposal from Petrochina to apply the EOR technology in our oil fields,? said Syamsu.

According to him, the application of the EOR technology is in line with the instruction given by State Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan, who had targeted that Pertamina should increase its production to 800,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) in 2014.

Until this year (2012), its total production has reached up to 500,000 boepd (oil, gas and condensat).

"Of the total target, Pertamina EP and PHE are required to increase up to 200,000 boepd, and the rest from Pertamina Geothermal,? Syamsu added.
