Pertamina has asked the Attorney General Office to put a priority on the investigation of alleged corruption, cronism and nepotism practices involving former president Soeharto's children and friends, BRD reported on Thursday.

According to sources at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Pertamina has formally asked the Attorney General to speed up the investigation on the alleged corruption, cronism and nepotism, locally more popularly called KKN.

The sources said that most of the 14 cases of KKN filed to the Attorney Genera Office had been left untouched.

The 14 KKN cases involve Soeharto's close friend Bob Hasan in the construction of three LNG plants in Bontang, East Kalimantan, in Tugu Pratama insurance company and in the sales of natural gas to PT Kraft Aceh. Other top figures involved in the KKN also include Tommy Soeharto.

A transaction on the leasing of a tanker between Tommy's Humpus and Pertamina alone is estimated to conflict a loss of about Rp 450 billion to the state oil company.

The 14 KKN practices have been left untouched even tough the Attorney General Office has for several times asked Pertamina officials to explain the cases. (*)
