The 200 MW Pesanggaran gas and diesel-fired power plant which is supplying electricity to the power system on the resort island of Bali is now ready to receive gas from Benoa LNG terminal, according to an official of PT Indonesia Power (IP), the owner of the power plant.
?So far the PLTDG Pesanggaran has been running on MFO and has reached capacity up to 200 MW. Now we are waiting for gas from Benoa (LNG terminal),? the company?s Director of Production Eri Prabowo told Petromindo.com.
The subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) said earlier that the power plant can be run on gas, MFO, or HSD.
The gas for the power plant is expected to come from Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan and the LNG will be first regasified at Bontang LNG terminal before being transmitted to PLTDG Pesanggaran. Bontang is expected to supply 40 mmscfd of gas to the power plant.
Benoa LNG terminal is planned to start operating in March 2016, according to Denny Herman, President Director of PT Pelindo Energi Logistik (PEL), the operator of LNG terminal.
