Pesona Khatulistiwa delays first coal shipment to Petrocom

East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN) said on Tuesday that its planned first shipment of coal to China's Petrocom Energy limited has been rescheduled to the end of next year, the company official said.

Both firms have signed a long-term contract allowing PKN to supply Petrocom 2 million tons of low-ranked coal per annum.

PKN initially planned to make first shipment in May 2008. The supply volume is expected to reach 420,000 tons in the first year and will be ramped up to 2 MTPA until 2013.

The delivery was rescheduled because Petrocom has delayed the construction of its coal facility terminal in China and PKN also intends to upgrade its low-rank coal product, PKN's CEO Jeffrey Mulyono said.

Jeffrey said PKN is looking for partner to upgrade its low-rank coal.

Huabei-based Petrocom would use PKN coal for blending, he said.

The coal sold to Petrocom would have CV of 3,500 Kcal/kg, he added. (godang/denny)
