Petro Vietnam eyeing E. Kalimantan exploration block

Vietnam national oil firm PetroVietnam Investment and Development Co (PIDC) is eyeing to acquire oil, gas exploration in East Kalimantan, a government official said on Thursday.

Kardaya Warnika, a senior official with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources told reporters that visiting PIDC CEO Nguyen Quoc Thap expressed the company?s intention during a meeting with Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro.

Kardaya did not give further detail.

PIDC currently has stake in three exploration areas in Java, namely North East Madura I and North East Madura II blocks in East Java and Randu Gunting block onshore Central Java. (godang)
