PetroChina, Amerada Hess make hydrocarbon discoveries: BP Migas

Saturday, July 17 2004 - 04:31 AM WIB

Upstream oil and gas authority BP Migas said PetroChina and Amerada Hess had just reported hydrocarbon discoveries in their respective exploration blocks.

?PetroChina had just informed me that a test conducted on exploration well in Jabung block in Jambi had just flowed gas and crude. Amerada Hess also reported hydrocarbon flows from its Pangkah block offshore East Java,? said BP Migas deputy chairman in charge of exploration Zanial Ahmad.

Zanial, however, said that both companies had yet filed full reports. ?Reports will hopefully be submitted soon,? he said.

Operator PetroChina and Malaysian oil company Petronas each has 42.5 percent working interest in Jabung Block, with state oil and gas company Pertamina has the remaining 15 percent. Jabung block is a gas-producing field, exporting its gas production to Singapore via pipeline.

Amerada Hess (operator) has 66 percent interest in Pangkah, with ConocoPhillips and Dana petroleum has 22 percent and 12 percent, respectively. Pangkah is scheduled to pipe its gas production to state electricity firm PLN starting 2005. (alex/godang)
