PetroChina completes NK-2 drilling in Papua

PetroChina International (Bermuda) has completed the drilling of exploration well North Klalin 2 (NK-2) of Bermuda Block in Sorong, West Papua.

The company said in a press statement on Friday that the drilling had been started since 4th January 2013 and now the well is undergoing a gas production testing.

?Hopefully, its production is significant enough,? said Sorong Mayor Lambert Jitmau when visiting the production test in Sorong on Thursday.

Upstream authority SKK Migas Papua and Maluku Representtive Head Yoseph R. Karundeng said that it was the first gas discovery in sorong as previously, Sorong was only known as the city of oil. ?The discovery has proved that Sorong not only has oil, but gas as well,? Lambert said.
