Chinese oil firm PetroChina confirmed Friday it had recently stroked another oil and gas resources in the Jabung PSC onshore Jambi Province.

The Betara Southwest 1 discovery well was tested and flowed at 4,250 barrels of oil per day plus 3.4 million cubic feet of gas per day, said PetroChina Indonesia spokesperson Maryke P. Yustika.

The well, which was drilled at a total depth of 1,902 meter, is located about 8 kilometers south-west of the Betara West 1, an oil and gas discovery well stroked August last year.

Operator PetroChina and Malaysian oil company Petronas each has 42.5 percent working interest in the Jabung block, with state oil and gas company Pertamina has the remaining 15 percent.

The Jabung block has significant oil and gas reserves and is currently exporting its gas production to Singapore via pipeline. (godang)
