The well in Jabung block, called Tiung Utara-2, located in Tanjung Jabung Timur regency was spudded on Dec. 23, 2014, while the well in Tuban block, called Karang Mudi well, was spudded on Dec. 31, 2014, SKK Migas? Drilling and Survey Division Head Ngatijan told Petromindo.com.
Jabung block is operated by Petrochina International Jabung Ltd with 27.86 percent stake, while the Tuban block is operated by Joint Operating Body Pertamina-PetroChina East Java (JOB-PPEJ) where Petrochina has 25 percent stake.
Budi Setiadi, Petrochina International Jabung?s VP for Partnership and Government Relation, confirmed that a well is being drilled at Jabung block. The firm will next drill another well, Tiung Utara-3, there.
?As a matter of fact, there are three other exploration wells (that will be drilled). Let?s see the result of Tiung Baru-2 first,? Budi said, adding the Tiung Baru-2 well is expected to increase the gas output of Jabung.
In November of last year, JOB-PPEJ?s Field Administration Superintendent Hananto Aji said the JOB plans to drill 10 development wells and one exploration well at the Sukowati field in the Tuban block this year.
Petrochina partners with Petronas Carigali, PP Oil & Gas and Pertamina in Jabung PSC and with Pertamina in Tuban JOB PSC.
