PetroChina International Jabung Ltd said on Wednesday that it has never carried out activities in wells that have not secured location permits from local administration, therefore reiterating calls for an immediate end to the current seal-off of 14 wells at the Jabung block in Jambi.

The East Tanjung Jabung regency administration sealed off the 14 wells on May 24 reportedly as it claimed that PetroChina has yet to obtain the necessary location permit for the wells from the local administration.

But PetroChina refuted the notation. ?We always abide by the rules. PetroChina has never carried out exploration and production activities in oil and gas wells that have not obtained necessary location permits from relevant administration,? it said in a statement.

It said most of the sealed off wells have been in production before 2002, the year when the company acquired the block. PetroChina has always made sure to secure the necessary permits before carrying out activities ever since.

?Location permits for the sealed off wells are already there, for instance in North Geragai-28 (2003), North Geragai-1 (1994), Ripah-15 (2006). Most of the wells that are currently sealed have been producing before even we acquired the block.?
