PetroChina Indonesia has offered to provide community development funds amounting to Rp1.5 billion to the Bojonegoro regency administration in East Java as a new package of incentives to ease the protest against the company's operation, Koran Tempo reported on Tuesday.
PetroChina's vice president Budi Setiadi confirmed on Monday that the company would provide cash amounting to Rp 1.5 billion as part of its community development programs in the regency.
With the new offer, PetroChina hopes that the local authority would allow the company to continue to resume the development of its Sukowati 3 and 4 oil wells.
The local government has forced the company to stop drilling activities at the two oil wells after the Chinese oil company refused to meet its demand to get a 10 percent interest in the Bojonegoro oil field. (*)
