PetroChina resumes drilling at Sukowati-5 oil well

Chinese oil and gas company PetroChina has continued drilling at Sukowati-5 oil well in Bojonegoro, East Java after successfully overcome the problems of gas kick as well as mud layer beneath the well, Investor Daily reported Wednesday.
?The H2S gas inside the Sukowati-5 oil well had been exhausted. The drilling has been resumed at a depth of almost 7,000 feet,? Djoko Agus, the security head of the Pertamina-PetroChina?s Joint Operating Body, told Antara news agency on Tuesday in Bojonegoro.
Drilling work at well number 5 and 6 started in June and was expected to be completed in three months time. The drilling work is aimed at boosting oil production to 13,000 bpd.
PetroChina East Java, a joint venture with state oil and gas company Pertamina, operates the Sukowati oil field in Bojonegoro regency, East Java. The field started operation in August 2004 with an output of 7.000 barrels per day. (*)
