PetroChina sees early production for its Papua oil discovery

Chinese oil firm PetroChina may bring its West Papua oil discovery into fast-track production this year, a company official said.

PetroChina International Companies in Indonesia VP Administration Budi Setiadi told Petromindo.Com on Monday that the South East Walio well, which was discovered in Salawati PSC in December 2008, might produce 2,000 BPD.

?We?re studying the possibility,? Budi said.

PetroChina operates Salawati Basin with 30 percent interest, while state-owned oil and gas PT Pertamina, Pearl Oil, and Lundin Petroleum hold 10 percent, 34.064 percent, and 25.936 percent, respectively.(alex)
