PetroChina's spokesman Maryke P.Y. Pulunggono said that the receiving terminal would handle all the crude oil produced by the company from its oil concession in the province which reached about 60,000 barrels per day.
"The terminal will have a capacity to receive 600,000 barrels of oil. We hope it will be able to begin its operation in May," he said.
At present, the company's crude oil is transmitted to the Batanghari Marine Terminal before being shipped to a processing plant. The BMT terminal, which has the capacity to receive 120,000 barrels of crude oil, has been to small to meet the increase in the production of the Chinese oil company.
The construction of the new oil receiving terminal and its supporting facilities will cost about US$318 million. (*)
