PetroChina to develop new fields at Jabung block

Indonesian unit of China oil giant PetroChina announced on Wednesday the plan to further develop its Betara oil, gas complex and development of West Betara and South Betara fields in Jabung PSC onshore Jambi.

The company said that development will involve drilling of development wells, pipeline installation from well head to trunk line and then to Betara Gas Plant and North Geragai Gas Plant and installation of additional production facilities in each fields.

Peak production from the three fields is estimated at 12,250 BPD of oil and condensate, 18,000 BPD of LPG and 180 BBTUD of shales gas. The company did not give detail when peak production will be achieved.

Gas from Jabung block is exported to Singapore through pipeline under 20-year contract.

According to BPMIGAS Deputy Chairman Rudi Rubiandini, the West Betara and South Betara fields will start production mid-2012 with initial production of 30 BBTUD.

PetroChina is the operator of the Jabung block with 27.85715 percent interest. Other shareholders are Petronas Carigali (27.85715 percent), PP Oil&Gas (Indonesia-Jabung) Ltd (30 percent) and PT.Pertamina (Persero) (14.28570 percent). (godang)
