PetroChina to drill new oil well in South Sumatra

China's oil giant PetroChina is ready to drill a new oil well in a 2-ha plot of land in Musi Rawas regency, South Sumatra, the local Sumatera Ekspres daily reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted company's field administrator superintendent Ady Aziz as saying that the drilling work would start next week.

"We have previously conducted a seismic survey work for three weeks in this area. We estimate there's a huge oil reserves in this well," he said, but declined to provide any figure.

He said that the oil well would be called the Sumur Suling I oil well.(*)
