Petroland eyes Rembang oil block

Oil and gas company PT Petroland Energy has expressed its interest to bid for the development of the Rembang oil and gas field, one of several oil and gas blocks offered by the government's in a recent tender, Koran Tempo reported on Monday.
Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Iin Arifin Takhyan, said in Jakarta on Saturday that Petroland had formally unveiled its intension to bid for the Rembang oil block.
Early in February, the government auctioned off 11 oil and gas blocks to local and foreign investors for development. Four of the oil blocks were won by four local companies and the other four by foreign companies. Three blocks failed to attract bidders, including Rembang block, East Kangean and North Bali I by the August deadline.
Although the tender was closed on August, the government is still allowed the investors to bid for the remaining oil blocks until this month (October). (*)
